Each year, AHRMA’s Board of Trustees reviews class and organizational rules, and considers any changes to be instituted for the following season. Any member in good standing may submit a proposal for a rule change. To do, please use the “Proposal for Rule Change” form found near the back of the AHRMA Handbook, and mail, fax or email it to the AHRMA National office no later than May 30. (Contact information is on that form, in Vintage Views, and on this website).
Rules proposals must be in writing, clearly stating the proposed change. The corresponding rule number(s) should be included, along with any available supporting documentation. Telephone calls are not considered official proposals.
All proposals will be reviewed by the appropriate Rules & Eligibility Committees, which will present their recommendations to the full Board at the July 14 meeting in Millville, NJ. The Board will vote on each proposal, and those preliminary decisions will be printed in Vintage Views. Members are then invited to comment on the decisions prior to the final vote, which takes place at the October Board meeting.
The deadline for 2015 rules proposal submissions is May 30, 2014.
Most of the season-end awards for the 2013 CPL Systems National Historic Cup Roadrace Series were distributed at the March 28 awards dinner, conducted at NOLA Motorsports Park in Louisiana — thanks to all who participated. If you were unable to collect your trophy at the dinner, National and Pacific Crown Series plaques will be at available at the Willow Springs and Sonoma Raceway rounds, so be sure to claim it there. We will also have any remaining National and regional trophies at Road America and Grattan in June — any that have not been claimed by that time will be shipped to those who earned them.
There’s a new addition to AHRMA’s racing family: Daughter Charlie Ann Poole arrived on March 28 to parents Wes and Kelly Poole of Tiburon, California. Wes is the son of Trustees Rob and Debbie Poole, and has literally grown-up at AHRMA motocross events — congratulations to all!
MACEDON, N.Y. (Mar. 27) — For the first time, the Kyle Wyman Racing XR1200 rental program will be offering arrive-and-ride opportunities for events outside of the AMA Pro Road Racing Series. The first stop will be at Sonoma Raceway, May 1-2, 2014 for the AHRMA Vintage Road Racing Series.
The 2012 AMA Pro XR1200 Championship-winning race team fielded more entries than any other AMA Pro Road Racing team in 2013, with 44 total spots on the grid filled by KWR motorcycles. Expanding the program to AHRMA events will provide more opportunities for riders to experience the thrill of riding a professionally prepared Harley-Davidson XR1200.
“I’m really excited to be expanding our reach and introducing the XR1200 Rental Program to another series,” said Kyle Wyman, owner of KWR. “The motorcycle and brand are both special to me, and I really enjoy providing an easy way for people to show up and ride them.”
The Harley-Davidson XR1200, in AMA Pro-spec trim, will be legal in both the BOT (Battle of the Twins) Formula 2 and Formula 1 classes during the AHRMA Road Racing event. The schedule runs Thursday and Friday before the AFM weekend, which will host round 2 of the all-new Superbike Shootout series. XR1200 rentals will also be available during select twins classes of the AFM series.
“I hope to be competing in the Superbike Shootout race at Sonoma the following days,” Wyman added. “This new venture of bringing the XR1200 Rental Program out to the west makes sense for us. People in our industry have added more racing to our plates, so how can we make the most of it? I hope to make the most of it by getting as many bikes on the race track as possible.”
